NEW: Waves at sunset, Sennen Cove (2024)
Standing on a warm summers evening, listening to the crashing waves, watching the sun set over the Atlantic and seeing the lights of Sennen Cove sparking away.
There are only a few places in the world that I can’t get enough of and one of them is the Cornish coastline of West Penwith. The drive from St Ives through the wild moorlands, with the ancient monuments, overlooking the iconic tin mines and the crashing sea, towards Sennen Cove must be right up there on the most scenic roads to drive. It’s narrow in parts, the road remaining on the old route through farms and hamlets rather than new routes created that go around. When the sun is in the right place, the Isles of Scilly are visible and then Chapel Carn Brea marks the end of the land before the last strip to Sennen Cove and out to Lands End.
Acrylic on canvas board (6x6 inch) and then framed in a white floating frame (7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inch). Ready to hang.
