Porthmeor Beach to the Island, St Ives (2017)
Acrylic on canvas board (unframed) 14x11 inches
The Island is an iconic St Ives landmark and a view that for many a holiday maker signals that you have finally arrived. It can be seen standing proud, capped with the small chapel, from many locations around St Ives and including from what must be one of the most spectacular train journeys in the U.K. on the small branch line from St Erth. It’s location in the end of Porthmeor Beach frames the view of the wild waves of the Atlantic.
The nature of this particular canvas board means that it can be framed in a traditional way, with the loss of a few mm around all edges. The frame would flatten the slight curve of the canvas board. It wouldn’t be suitable in a floating frame because of the way the board has been made.
All attempts have been made to photograph the artwork and give as true a colour match to the original as possible. However, this could vary depending on screen settings and the device used when viewing the work online.
