I love exploring and finding new places (even better if they are by the sea). Runswick Bay was a wonderful discovery towards the end of 2024. I’d spent ages with family walking the beach, looking for sea glass. I found a small piece of dark blue sea glass that I’ve had turned into a necklace. After spending a good hour on the beach, we had a walk around the village. It is so pretty with views around each corner. I took lots of photos but I knew that this view would definitely end up as a piece of art.
It’s hard to picture at times, when it’s all looking so beautifully kept, that originally life here would have been very hard. Not only the dangers of fishing but being surrounded by the unstable cliffs prone to landslides.
However, on this sunny day in November it was as picturesque as you can imagine, small alleyways, red roofs and local stone or white washed buildings. I hope this painting captures just a little of what is special about this beautiful place.
