Mouchoir Rouge, Mauritius

Just of the waterfront in Mahebourg, Mauritius, there is a small island with buildings that have red roofs. It’s called Mouchoir Rouge (the red handkerchief).  Its name comes from a time when a red handkerchief was waved to call for a boat to come over and bring people back to shore.  A lovely magical place, a country that instantly felt like home.
