We stayed above the Post Office in Castlebay on the Isle of Barra. It had wonderful views across the bay and towards Kisimul Castle only reachable by boat and one of the first things you see as you arrive on the ferry from Oban. Vatersay is further south than Barra and the last of the accessible islands by car. You can explore some of those further south by boat and see amazing wildlife.
It was a unique experience visiting the Outer Hebrides. We learnt a lot and appreciated our surroundings in what almost seems like the edge of the earth and a long way from the mainland. If you get a chance the flight to Barra which lands on the beach is a great experience. It takes great skill.
