Little cottages, College Square, Stokesley (2020)

Acrylic on box canvas.  20x8 inch.  Having being exhibited at a few locations, I’m pleased to be able to offer this painting on my website. 

With family in the NE of England it’s really nice to explore and find new places.  However, there are other places that you keep getting drawn back to.  Stokesley is a favourite of mine for a walk and a coffee shop.  It’s a market town on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, nestled between the high rugged moorland peaks and the lush green cultivated farm land.  My favourite walk is to follow the small road along the River Leven, crossing over by the  historic bridge and then backalong the High Street.  It is so characterful and typical of North Yorkshire Market Towns and it’s a regular trip out on our visits.  At the northern end of the High Street is College Square and along one side is the prettiest row of cottages that I had to capture in this painting.  Each house is unique with different heights, widths and brick colours and yet they make the perfect terrace.  

The box canvas is thicker than standard and has been painted around the edges.  The canvas is ready to hang.
