Waves at Portminster Beach

When I think of big waves in St Ives, I probably think of Portmeor beach.  However, on a day in November, the waves were large enough for surfers to be out on Portminster beach.  Portminster is at the bottom of the hill of where we used to stay on St Ives, a steep walk down Primrose Valley and what seemed an even steeper walk back up. On this November day, the waves were a pale blue and the cliffs at the end of the beach into shadow, which only emphasised the white water formed.  But the headland was bathed in sunshine and the little red lifebuoy marking Portminster Head could be seen.
