Walking across the harbour, St Ives

I’ve only ever been able to do it a couple of times but if there is a really low tide, it’s possible to walk from the Harbour beach to Porthminster Beach in St Ives.  

Smeaton’s Pier really shows off the height change of the tides during the day, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so clearly anywhere else, nor appreciated how much it rises and falls.  When the tides out far enough you can walk around the end of the pier on the sand and look up at where the water will rise too.

Then of course you have all the stranded boats in the harbour left behind when the tides gone out and the spaces are filled with people playing and walking.
