Where the sea meets the sky (2024)
Where the sea meets the sky (2024)
Acrylic on canvas board and framed in a black St Ives style frame. The canvas board is 30x30cm and with the frame it makes 39.5x39.5cm total.
This painting is inspired by a very windy walk along Redcar Beach in the Northeast of the U.K. It was the time between Christmas and New Year and provided the perfect refresh. This beach goes for miles, our dog Harvey loves it, he knows where he is the moment we pull into the car park. He runs in big circles around us, coming back to our feet now and again for a quick hello. The wind was so strong on this day that it was blowing him off course but I think that made him enjoy it even more.
The tide was going out and the wet sand was like a mirror reflecting the big sky. It rained one minute and then the sun came out the next. With the reflections and the sun hitting the dunes, it was really too good a view to miss. I hope you can feel the wind in your hair and the smell of the sea when you look at it.
