Painting of Dam Street in Lichfield

Painting on the streets of Lichfield

This past weekend, I was involved in the Bespoke Pop Up for the Lichfield Spring Food Festival.  The weather was wonderful.  It was perfect for food and drink, wandering around and experiencing the beautiful cathedral city of Lichfield.
I had spent a good couple of weeks planning both a small display of my work and what I would paint.  I invested in a few things to help create my display and I prepared some new pieces that I could unveil at the event.

The planning paid off and the mini display was just as I hoped.  Now it was just painting, live and with people visiting the festival passing by.  I often watch other artists work in high speed videos on social media and there always seems to be a plan.  I’ve realised that I’m not that structured. I start, do a bit, go on to something else and then come back and do some more.  Maybe this is a reflection of how I approach most things.
It was a great experience, I got to talk to so many people, share ideas, tips and hear some good jokes.  In terms of painting, I enjoyed the buzz, it’s usually quite a solitary experience. But I still got caught in the painting at times and the surroundings disappeared. Just me and my art.
