My journey into pet portraits a.k.a. pawtraits

We had cats growing up.  We adopted our first when I was a teenager.  We had four in total. I wasn’t really a dog person and probably a bit afraid of them if I’m honest.

That was until my Mother-in-law got a puppy six years ago.  It was so cute and liked to sit in a shoe box the first time we met him.  A year later we got our own little dog and it’s safe to say I’m now dog obsessed.  So much so that out with my husband the other day, I was struggling to focus on my food because there was a cute little dog at the next table!

So it has been a complete joy this last year that my art business has ventured into pet portraits.  I like to start with the eyes, because let’s be honest, they are their super power! A little light makes the colour pop and then the sparkle just gives a hint of their mischief and ability to get away with anything.  Then the rest of the face/ body follows.

The prices for a commission start at £52 for a 6x6 boxed canvas but they can be any size and framed or unframed.
