I’ve had a slow few weeks painting because of working on a side project but with the summer holidays starting, I’m ready for painting again. Of course, I’ve started with a seaside scene ☺️ and yes it contains a fair amount of blue 💙.
It’s always a bit tricky to get back into it, I’m sure like anyone, after a little holiday from something, you panic you will have forgotten everything. But a few hours and things start to feel more normal.
I’m working on a series of 4 floating framed canvas boards. They will fit perfectly with the sea theme. I started off very much on box canvas and whilst I still love the ability to paint around the sides, I love the lift a frame gives to a piece of work. It’s like the finishing touch. I’ve also been busy reframing a couple of older paintings that have been on their travels across the country. Originally they had black frames and although I still love the boldness, I think the new St Ives style white frames just give them that something extra.
I will keep you updated on my progress!
Happy summer holidays!
